I know it was useful in the past when it was harmful to drink water, beer was used as a source of hydration. But I can't think of a reason for alcohol to remain; it seem vestigial to society. Umm, may be on Surviver. LOL I love the Madtv parody of Surviver. "And team Burritos has 17-no wait! 18 people on their team." It went soemthing like that, but I don't remember exactly.Necessary for reproduction and the continuation of the speciesI see no reason for it in a physical sense. But is has become an entrenched part of society. Many social customs are accompanied by alcohol - it's not needed, but it's 'normal' to consume it.
Not that I do.My family has made wine for nearly 1000 years. We don't plan on stopping because you don't see it as having a place in modern society.
We enjoy it when we are having a good time, not "to" have a good tine. Yes, some people cannot understand the difference, but it's not worth punishing the rest of us who don't have the problem.You're right, but then again, there are very few things in society that we all NEED to survive, the rest are just there for our own pleasure and alcohol is one of them.
