I have a swollen lymph node in my neck, just below my jaw line. I have had it for about 6 months. When I first noticed it it was very small, still I went and saw my GP as I was concerned, she said it could be just due to infection and to go back if it enlarges.
Well I've kept an eye on it and it has indeed enlarged and it's hard. I'd say it's now 1.5cm. It's no so much painful, more tender. Although it's been swollen for a couple of weeks now, hence why I'm going to get it checked once again. I'm quite concerned now. Not sure if this may be relevant but... I have been very tired lately and I'm on anti-depressants for depression.
What are the chances of it being cancerous?Don't take medical advise from anyone here. Even if they say that they are a doctor, don't listen. This is not something that you should be asking random strangers about. Because it could be as simple as an infection to as serious as cancer. No one here can tell you the chances of it being cancerous. No one here can tell you anything that is true medical advice.
But, we can tell you this GO TO YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU WANT MEDICAL ADVISE!!!!! (and yes, I did mean to shout that)
Take care of yourself, and see your doctor. Only he or she will be able to give you sound advise. not to scare you at all but my grandma a month ago just found out she has lung cancer that spread to many parts to her body including her neck and lymph nodes
they thought it was from a cold or something but o=found out once she had a cat scan
again not to mke you worry but i would definely check it out I've got absolutely no hard knowledge in this area, but I'd always believed that cancer of the lymphatic system usually struck more than one node.
I'd be inclined to believe your doctor. It's probably, and hopefully, just an infection.Hello,
There are lots of possibilities here so try not to worry too much.
I had similar things and after doing loads of blood tests they are looking at Chronic Fatigue.
My gran had the same thing and the doctor thinks its an infection.
Anyime you are run down or have recovered from colds etc your nodes can struggle!
However - are the other person said - we are not doctors and the very best thing you can do is to go back to your gp and tell him your worries.
If you cannot get an appointment and would like to chat it through with someone to reassure you and also to help you know what to tell your GP then try NHS direct.
Good Luck,
MMy son had swollen glands in his neck as an infant. they came and went. i took him to the doctors and he checked them, he said he was fine. AS LONG AS THERE IS NO PAIN AND THE GLAND IS MOVABLE AND DOES NOT FEEL HARD. now in your case, you just told me all of the warning symptoms he gave me. you really should go to a different doctor if yours is telling you you are ok. seriously, that is not normal. better be safe than sorry. please find someone that knows what they are talking about. I had one on right side of my neck, doc thought a cyst but saw ENT specialist at hospital, he put a tube up my nose into throat looking for cancer, but nothing, they done a fine needle biopsy and it was clear then a neck scan and said it was an inflamed lymph node? they decided to remove it but I said no so they done another scan and it had gone, no cancer but I had a year from hell with worry, they done blood tests and found underactive thyroid glad and type 2 diabetes to be controlled by diet. Mine was there permanently for a year till they done the fine needle biopsy.if i was you id go straight back to your dr and request a mri scan
its better to be safe than sorry
i'll cross my fingers for you that it is just a infection and nothing more sinister.
good luck #If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
