I'm interested in learning a martial art, but I'm not entirely sure which one to study.
I'm nineteen, not very fit, and pretty busy. I'm mostly interested in the more "gentle" martial arts. I've heard descriptions like "using your opponent's power against him", but I'm really not sure enough of what that means to say anything more specific.
Any suggestions, ideas, and advice welcome!I would say Aikido or Tai Chi.No much to add, but definitely Aikido or Judo be good for you as focus more on holds etc. Aikido esp as it is also using person force back onto them.
Tai Chi might be good, but is very slow rhythm and not for everyonejudo is the most gentle of all martial arts, even blind people practice it. You use the momentum and force of your oppoenent to defeat himTaichi has this sort of effect, for sure. My dad does Taichi two hours a day. looks very gently but very powerful when it comes to defending yourself. My dad is 70 but he is as fit as a 20 year old. He highly recommends it to me but I still stay with my Karate. I work full time and now have three children and I still manage to go training twice a week and priactice a minimum of 15 minutes a day. You will able to find time to do it if you are enthusiastic. Go out and try for a few and see which one you like better. Wing chun is good do it!!!The name of the style does not matter. Most instructors have knowledge of more than one style and incorporate them into their teaching.
Visit schools in your area and see what looks best to you. Good luck in your journeyI would suggest Wing Chun or Tai Chi, even Taekwondo. Good LuckSounds like you would enjoy Aikido or Judo the most since both are gentle arts. Aikido is not nearly as physically demanding as Judo but they are both great arts. You may also want to try Jujitsu, not the MMA type, but a real jujitsu system or Aikijitsu. Good luck.try judo...its mostly grabbing ur opponent then throwing them to the ground...and u don't need a lot of strength.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
